Richard Osborne, 54, Australian national, Brisbane-based, with two children aged 12 and 10, has had two main career phases. In the first phase, based in Europe for 19 years, Osborne was CEO or Chairman of a wide range of high-technology and logistics firms all of which had global organisations and markets. In this time, Osborne worked for both VCs, and major publicly quoted companies. In the second phase, Osborne returned to Australia in 1994 to be CEO of TNT’s Australian businesses employing over 10,000 people and with annual revenues in excess of $A1.2bn, following which he retired from large corporate life and founded New Value Pty Limited, an investment and investment advisory company specialising in the rapid development of, and support to, young high-technology Australian companies pursuing dominant, global market positions and high levels of shareholder value.
